Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give then to receive” (Acts 20:35). This holiday season, as usual, the marketers like to put a little twist on the saying. Note the subject line in the email I received from Applebee’s:

Now this message is tailor made for our secular society. To take something old and revered and turn it into something selfish. It says, “Getting something for someone else is a good excuse to get yourself something.” It’s definitely got some appeal unless you are a person who respects Jesus. I think most Christians are bothered by these distortions. God bless you.
