20Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone should hear My voice and open the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Rev3
Jesus says this to a church he is about to spew out of his mouth. Our Savior is long-suffering not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Churches like the Laodicean church have works, but they mean nothing since heart and faith is dead.
The church was saying, “We’re good!” but Jesus says, “Nope, you are wretched and poor and embarrassingly unclothed.”
The slow decline of a congregation can happen if the leaders and members are not daily opening the door allowing Jesus in for sweet spiritual communion.
Someone said, A man who works with his hands is a laborer. A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. But a man who works with his hands his head, and with his heart is an artist.” When Christian lose the heart their love grows cold and their works become dead.
Stay close to Jesus and your works will be pleasing and sweet smelling to God.
