A TIME OF GRACE

God had a predetermined time to introduce Jesus into the world. His coming would be revolutionary. His coming would usher in the exclusive path to eternal life.

But the question people have is  in what way did the Gentiles figure into God’s plan during all of human history prior to the Gospel?

16 “In the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; 17 and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.” Acts 14

Could Gentiles in Old Testament period be saved without becoming a Jew as the Ethiopian Eunuch did? Apparently so. Paul said to the Romans that some Gentiles did almost instinctually the things a moral God expects. Apparently some Gentiles without Mosaic laws were more righteous than Jews who had the Law.

Paul said in Acts 14 that God revealed his moral code and power through the creation: it was a “witness” to the fact God is real and real good.

And when it says God winked at or overlooked sin in the past, it was a different dispensation before Christ for those who were not born under the Law. They didn’t get a pass on sin, but God judges them back then according to how they learned from natures God and if the lives according to their conscience.

But all of that is history and what we need to know today is that there is salvation in no one but Christ Jesus.
