Children are not born with sin and children cannot sin. “Sin” can only be committed by a person old enough he can or should know right and wrong. When they are small, they have no sin accounted towards them by God because they developmentally are not capable of being sovereign over their actions. The oft mentioned “age of accountability” is the age where there is a convergence of realities including knowledge of God and self-governance when the young person can love and appreciate God and make the serious commitment to follow God for life.
When Isaiah speaks of the sign that a virgin would be with child, it is speaking in Isa. 7 of the virgin birth of Jesus, and it says of the child “…at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. 16For before the boy knows enough to refuse evil and choose good,…”
Vodi Bakta is a denominational preacher who believes in the devilish doctrine that children inherit from their parents the depraved, sinful nature of Adam, so that Vodi says children are “vipers in diapers”. This erroneous doctrine promotes the idea that a baby crying is an inborn selfishness and that a child that touches what he ought not is an inborn rebellious spirit. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I despise the Calvinist doctrine of Total Depravity and it should be repelled vehemently.
