Chapter 7 is saying that righteous judgment cannot be done without first judging yourself. Am I on the straight and narrow path? Am I bearing good fruit? Am I doing and not just hearing Jesus’ words?
Am I hearing AND doing so that my own house is in order, built on firm ground?

Matthew 7 isn’t saying not to judge others. How else could you know or help the brother who has a splinter in his eye if you did not make a judgment? How else without judgment could you know who and who not to give your “pearls” to? No, vs 1 isn’t saying not to judge.
