God said, “Be fruitful and multiply.” According to God’s design, man and woman are to have children and to fill the earth. But man thinks he is wiser than God. With all of the global warming hysteria, some are now claiming that children are harmful to the environment. It was only a few days ago that China announced that their “one child” policy was good for the environment. According to a representative from China, “the coercive abortion and sterilization policy has had the side effect of slowing ‘global warming’ by limiting the population to 1.3 billion.” I think the Chinese are full of hot air. And today another article states, “The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights. The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child.”2 These fanatics who want to save the planet do not know or consider the consequences of their meddling. Life is precious and the spiritual, psychic and emotional damage of trampling on human rights is immeasurable.

I pray that my children never be made to feel they are evil or bad because they want three or four children. I pray that men come to their senses and acknowledge wisdom of God. Children are not the problem. Psalm 127:3 says, “Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” The states that force abortions and sterilizations are tramplers on God-given rights and are more harmful to this planet than a large family.
