I like this lady, a Georgia State Senator. While we may be “Slouching Toward Gomorrah”, as Robert Bork wrote, thankfully there are some principled souls who stand for what is right. The morality of government representatives is an issue that all Christians care about because people in positions of power can dramatically impede religious freedom. Consider the following positions by State Senator, Mrs. Nancy Schaefer:
On rulings by courts to redefine marriage to legalize same-sex marriage: “Marriage is one of the basic units of our society. It is the center of our affection and order. It ensures the care and nourishment of children, it bridges love from one generation to another, and marriage is the foundation upon which liberty and a strong family system can rest”, Schaefer continued, “the institution of marriage as a union between a man and a woman, involving procreation and the rearing of children within the family, is sacred and noble and must be protected at all costs if we are to preserve our nation from ruin”.
On the overreaching of Child Protective Custody: “I will also continue in my work to protect children and families trapped in Child Protective Services. I am very troubled over our disintegrating culture and the toll it is taking on our families.” Read more by State Senator, Schaefer concerning “THE CORRUPT BUSINESS OF CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES” She writes,
“the judge, quite out of the blue, wrote up a new order to send the girls to their father, who previously had no interest in the case and who lived on the West Coast. The father was in “adult entertainment”. His girlfriend worked as an “escort” and his brother, who also worked in the business, had a sexual charge brought against him.”
Regarding the men and women who are serving their country in the military: “The men and women who volunteered are doing a tremendous job,” Sen. Schaefer said after meeting with the troops. “They are taking time away from their loved ones to guard the United States against those who are trying to come into this country illegally. Many of them just returned from deployment to Iraq and they have willingly volunteered for this new mission. I applaud them and the work they are doing for this country.”
On the over-prescribing of mind-altering drugs on children: “Senator Nancy Schaefer reaffirms her position in defense of Georgia’s children and in support of the parent’s right to decide what is best for their children. Senator Schaefer is against the abusive over prescribing of mind-altering drugs to children such as Ritalin, Zoloft, and Prozac without parental consent. The big pharmaceutical corporations, in collusion with the psychiatric profession, are willing to put profit ahead of the well being of children. This has to stop. Already, with the help of the psychiatric profession, the liberal Illinois State Legislature has passed mandatory mental health screening even over parents objections. Again, this puts profits of the psychiatric associations and potential increased sale of drugs first before the rights of parents and the well being of children. This can’t be allowed in Georgia. First and foremost the final decisions concerning children’s mental health should only be made by a child’s parents.”
Paul wrote to Timothy,
“1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim. 2:1-4)
We need to pray for Mrs. Schaefer and all who are in authority, for their eternal salvation, and also for their divine protection as they stand strong to protect families and our country.
