“Ruehlman cited Brautigam for contempt and sent him to jail for six months.” Entire article
Television and radio is permitting foul language like never before. In the workplace and in the classroom, having “potty mouth” is more acceptable than ever before. So I am happy to see there remains at least one place in society where you can’t say whatever you like. In one courtroom in Ohio, Judge Ruehlman doesn’t tolerate the use of vulgar words. When the plaintiff called his opponents lawyer the F-word sit cost him 6 months.
This is probably pleasing to the Lord, Jesus who reminds His own disciples to watch their words carefully. In the Colossian letter, Christians are told to put aside “slander and abusive speech” and to “no longer lie to one another”, and to “always let your speech be with grace, as though seasoned with salt…” (Col. 3:8,9; 4:6). And Jesus said,
“36 “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. 37 “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Mt. 12:36,37.
It seems there is one more place where “potty mouth” is not permitted and that is in the kingdom of Christ. Those who follow Christ are careful with what they say.
