Weak people don’t have strong boundaries and they are susceptible to manipulation by others. The news that the state is talking about a new horse track/casino to raise revenue is irksome because that money is needed to purchase groceries or pay the utility bill. The idea that the state is feeding the temptation to gamble is troubling to many people. And there is no shortage of people to prey on.

In religion, there are people who prey on those who have a weak faith that is underdeveloped and fragile. This does not excuse the weak, but it is only an acknowledgement of the reality. Sometimes they prey on or “captivate weak women weighed down with sins,…” (2 Tim. 3:6 NASB) Sometimes they are like ravenous wolves “not sparing the flock” (Acts 20:29). Like a beast of the wild, they don’t care who they harm. They pick off the easy ones to devour them and control them. And so the church with the help of the Shepherds is on guard against anything that will rob people of eternal life.

Politicians prey on the weak with false promises. It’s tantalizing to think you could be lucky and win lots of money. Race tracks, lottery tickets, and casinos prey on the weak. Criminals prey on the weak. Sexual predators prey on women and girls. Government funded schools prey on children of faith – school has gone way beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic. Darwinian thought is mind control that is innately anti-God, Christ, and against the Bible. And Hollywood preys on decency. If it sounds like I’m “moralizing”, that’s because I am. Christians have a godly aversion to those who prey on the weak. One person responded to my article about Hollywood not caring about our children with the inept comment “if your so concerned about it close your eyes“. Here is what http://www.pluggedinonline.com says about a scene in the movie: “And after John’s 40th birthday party she surprises him by stripping naked and jumping into their backyard pool. (We see a bit too much of her bare body—side, back and shoulders—as she jumps in. Then, her blurred naked form in the water.) John leaps in after her and they embrace.” That was a completely unnecessary, gratuitous addition by Hollywood who seems bent on enticing with the flesh. Now couple what you just read about the movie with the promotion that this is a family movie. Not trying to be a prude, but this is over the line for families. And the words of criticism against me were by a weak or purely antagonistic person. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t take Jesus to see the movie.

Christians must be holy as God is holy. And that means that we live holy in all of our behavior. So take your stand against everything that is unholy knowing that it is Satan who is behind it all. He “is like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour” (1 Pt. 5:8). Don’t be foolish, but be aware of his schemes and also be aware of those who prey on the weak. I don’t see in Scripture that the abundant grace of God extends to those who prey on the weak. So be careful what you participate in. It is when we draw near to God through Jesus Christ that nothing can separate us from Him.

“37In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. 38I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love–not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8:37-38,39)
