7 “For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 “But as for you, you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by the instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” says the LORD of hosts. – Mal. 2:7,8
When pleasing God is our only priority, we do not agree with much that is in the world. When we believe in the invisible God because He has left ample evidence of His presence, we see the materialism of the world as chatter and white noise, a distraction to oppose and overcome.
Paul said to the Christians, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Rom. 12:2. Sadly we cannot trust everything we hear. The men who used to be holy and who used to hold the word of God up in high praise, have turned to compromising with unholiness. Instead of harmonizing the Scripture with Scripture, they harmonize the Scripture with the world. This folly creates a distorted and defiled Gospel and is Anathema to God.
Do we defend corruption? Do we defend teaching that is unholy? Do we rationalize the existence of Denominations which are obvious division. Do we explain away God’s law on marriage and tell the remarried they are holy? Do we turn a blind eye to the sacrifice and mutilation of unborn children in the name of convenience? The preachers used to tell the Truth. Many today are more interested in popularity and numbers.
