As much as we might hate war, it is inevitable that evil will be at war with good and good will be at war with evil. The two sides cannot be reconciled.
The Scriptures show that Satan and his followers are on the offensive against God’s people. God’s people must stand firm and stand up for what is right. The conflict, even if it seems small for the moment, is very serious. The way of righteousness cannot submit to the coercive and manipulative efforts from Satan to be silenced. Christians remember that they stand their ground as Peter and John said, “We must obey God rather than men.”
In the Revelation letter, the Christians are under severe persecution due to the war that Satan has declared on Christ and His elect. The Christians are struggling to remain faithful. And so John reminds the church that it is those who overcome who will receive the crown of life (Rev. 2:10; cf 2:7,11,17,26; 3:5,12,21 “to him that overcomes”).
God wants the Church to overcome through the trials and adversity placed on it by the hostile world. The nature of this conflict is the war between good and evil. This war cannot be avoided. There can be no compromise. The only question for each person is which side will I take. War is inevitable.
Revelation shows War is inevitable –
“the dragon…went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus” (Rev 12:17).
“the kings of the whole world…gathered together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon” (Rev 16:16).
…
“these will wage war against the Lamb…and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful” (Rev 17:14).
“11And I saw opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war….14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He iwll rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty” (Rev 19:11,14-15).
“19And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown ALIVE into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone., 21And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse,…” (Rev 19:19-21).
“7When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the eath, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9And they came up on thee broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever” (Rev. 20:7-10).See More
