Don’t doubt it. There is a madness that is rampant among humanity that is related to denying reality, even the greatest and ultimate reality that there is a Sovereign God. The lives of young and old are lived on the frazzled edge. Medications soothe but don’t fix. Things material, pretty things offer only a momentary respite from it. The fixes from men don’t satisfy because they don’t answer the true need, the yearning of the soul to know God.

Men claim atheism, agnosticism, and they shake their fists at God. They challenge and they spit and swear at Him because they don’t know Him. They run from Him as fast as their legs and minds permit and they plunge themselves into a darkness that is a foretaste of hell. And once they have thrust themselves into the pitiful condition, they again curse God. It’s madness.

The Prodigal Son came to his senses and found redemption. Jonah turned to God in the belly of a great fish and found redemption. The king of Babylon was driven to insanity because of his pride and rejection of God. Only when he lifted up his eyes to God and acknowledged Him did he get well. “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom endures from generation to generation” (Dan. 4:34).

Men are going crazy. They are going nuts. Dumping their wives. Abandoning their children. Worshiping money. Pumping massive quanities of alcohol into their finite and mortal bodies. Men and women cannot be happy if they think they are animals. They cannot have self-worth if they despise the human flesh in the womb. Destroy the baby and you dehumanize yourself. The life of the godless becomes less and less of value. Satan is having a field day in the minds of men.

Jesus said “Come to Me”. Jesus said God “If I be lifted up I will draw all men to Me.” Sanity comes through the Son of God. Sanity comes through denial of self and the exaltation of God and His eternal truths. If you are going crazy, you aren’t praying. If you are going crazy, you are not trusting in God’s Word. If we have faith to believe in God and to believe in His promises, we will find a sanity that is real and tangible. God’s sanity is comfort and peace, joy and love. Come to God and come to your senses.
