HAPPY?

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” – Mt. 13:44

Most people are not happy. It’s sad to say, but many believers don’t act happy. They don’t like hearing this, believe me, and so they make excuses, “you don’t know the troubles I have.” This is just excuse making and evidence of a weak faith. People who are filled with the love of God have an unshakable and contagious spirit of Christ. Jesus said stop worrying and be happy.

Most do not know the joy of following Christ. Why? Why do people require physical comfort, stimulation, carnal prosperity to be happy? A better question is why do they pursue such things that give only momentary satisfaction?

The answer is that most people, even professing christians put too much emphasis on this world. They value it too much. Jesus said “where your treasure is, there will your heart be.” How can the transitory and vain things of this life be given so much importance that men never take hold of eternal happiness?

Do you know the value of Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary? Are you washed in His blood and do you exult in being a member of His body? Are you not lifted up each moment by the promises of your heavenly Father!

Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field that when the man found it, he received it with joy. So valuable and precious is the treasure of the kingdom that he gave up everything else to acquire it, Mt. 13:44. A heart set on the wonderful things of God cannot help but be happy.

  1. I really liked this article! You spoke the truth. A lot of times worries of this world keep us from bursting with joy over the spiritual and physical blessings we have from God. -Heidi
