There is a God. He’s perfect in Power, Wisdom, Goodness, Morality, and in Presence. The only true God has shown Himself to man so that man can see these things. So effectively has He shown Himself to man that man will be held to account if he does not seek and find God.
“18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” Rom. 1:18-20
If there were no such thing as God, then there would be no absolute truth. Without absolute right and wrong, man would decide for Himself what is right or wrong. “Right and wrong” would be subjective, and left up to debate. Murder would be based on opinion. Lying and stealing would be up to man’s opinion. Slavery would be OK if man felt it was OK. If there were no God, there would be no way to discern good from evil. But The Bible says that God is going to hold man accountable for the good and evil he has done in this life. Christians understand that there is an absolute Truth from the True God who can be known.
God has made man moral creatures who yearn to understand where he came from, why he is here, and where he is going? Solomon said God “has set eternity in the hearts of men” Eccl 3:11. That means to me that there is in man a yearning for more than red meat and shiny things. Man has a spiritual yearning that causes him to search for God – just as God designed and intended. Paul said to the Athenians, who had already concluded specific truths about man’s relationship to God, that,
“26 He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ 29 “Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. 30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead” Acts 17:26-31
That verse right there in Acts 17 sums up the point that God made us to know and obey Him. There is a perfect God who is knowable and who will require for man to give an answer for the good or evil he has done in this life. Sobering words, indeed. A judgment day is coming through Jesus Christ and God requires that men repent and obey while they may still do so in this life. There is a true God who you should know today. God bless you!
Do you wish to call on God for salvation? Would you like to know that you have been saved by God’s grace and have the security of eternal life? The way to salvation is as simple as going to the cross of Jesus. It was there that He died for your sins, doing for you what you could not do for yourself.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” Eph. 1:7
If you believe in Jesus Christ, that the Son of God died for your sins, you understand then that you must repent, turn away from, your sins that He died for on that cross. Without repentance, and godly sorrow that produces repentance, you can’t really even say in a meaningful way that you believe in Him. So if you wish to know that you have been saved by the only true God, you know that repentance is the only proper response for the sinner who is looking up to Jesus on the cross. And there is one more thing that you must do. It is what Jesus commanded that you be baptized into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. As a believing adult you must ask to be baptized in the watery grave to be united with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. This baptism is not unnecessary. To be saved by the the God who has revealed Himself, baptism is the place where you call on Him for salvation. I turn to Scripture one more time so that the reader can see the urgency of being baptized:
“‘Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.’” Acts 22:16
Do you believe that God wants to save you today? Please don’t delay. If you believe in His Son, Confess that good news, turn away from the sin in your life, and have your sins washed away. These words are true. God bless you.
