Woe the the Christian in Name Only. Woe to the one that is not Christian in his heart but uses the name of Christ as a cover for the immoral person inside. Jesus warned about being hypocritical like those who outwardly appeared righteous but who were immoral on the inside, Mt. 23:25-28. To these people, understand that the outbursts of anger when you don’t get your way reveal the truth. Understand that the lack of conviction reveals the true person. Know that the preference you have for mingling with the worldly friends over spending time in fellowship with Christians is showing the true self.
Jeremiah wrote important words to the Jews which are pertinent today for those who are Christians in Name Only: “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised—” Jere. 9:25. The “circumcised and yet uncircumcised” were outwardly Jewish but inwardly they were carnal with injustice, unrighteousness, with mean spirits. Woe to the Christian that does not put these things to death that they might be like Christ in all ways.
Are you “circumcised” outwardly, outwardly trying to look the part of being Christian while still very much being driven by the fleshly impulses of your youth? Repent and pray that perhaps God forgive you. Said in love, Dan
