13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; 16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.” – Psalm 139:13-14,15-16
What is man’s worth? Not much if you reduce him to minerals and trace elements. Not much if you believe in Evolution theory. You are not worth much to godless men. The Darwinists say so. How much worth can an accident have, especially when there are so many other accidental living creatures that are said to have equal value – or maybe more? Believing in a worthless, valueless existence has been so hard on man and has no doubt lead to evil. Aborting babies is easy if they have no worth. Putting the elderly to death (letting them die, refusing them medicine, starving them) by court order is easier if man has no intrinsic value. Even when man appears to care for his fellow man, it is only self-preservation and the pragmatic attempt to save myself by saving others. “I’ll save you because I may need you to save me some day.” This kind of subjective game is not the same thing at all to granting that all humans have intrinsic value that the atheists cannot explain. And so things gets cock-eyed and imbalanced. Now it is being “humane” to treat every animal with kindness. But a large portion of humans gets nothing of this “humane” treatment. After all, the costs associated with the aged and with the unborn is so great, so as to give them a negative value if that is possible (the reasoning of godless men does not have to add up or make sense). “Bah, humbug”, they say. Like the British Ethicist said, some people just have a duty to die.
What if your value was based on how strong you were? What if your worth depended on your body/mass index? Or what if it was based on your good looks or your superior intelligence? Susan Boyle, the singing contestant on Britains equivalent to American Idol has never been kissed. She’s fairly normal looking, a little overweight, and seemingly destined to be an old maid; that is, until she sang. Now she has marrigae proposals. Her value has skyrocketed. But what if you can’t sing or dance, what is your value then? These valuations of man leave many of us in a deficit, a less valuable condition. The truth is, our godless, Darwinists world puts more value on some people than it does on others. It’s all very subjective like granting more value to a person because he can do this or that. Because I can sing and dance, I have more value than you. Or because a man can slam dunk a basket or can putt a tiny ball into a hole, he has more worth. The imbalance that occurs between those deemed valuable and those deemed less valuable is a type of idolatry. Men still have idols. And there is no possibility for equality and it’s wrong. For most of the idols, their moment of supreme value is short before they sink back into obscurity. It’s painful reality for them when they fall from their lofty perches. The poor 22-year-old budding star in England who was found hanged after her show was canceled may be an illustration of this. They disappear and fade into the shadows while the value of others rise.
Where does true value come from? It comes from God. He made us living, breathing souls, in the image of God He made us. “Let us make man in our image”, God said (Genesis 1:26,27). The Bible says that you have intrinsic value. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The godless and idolatrous world discriminates, but God is impartial. A person who understands and believes this does not agree with what is happening in our world. If Hitler only knew, he would not have slaughtered innocent men, women, and children. A person who knows the intrinsic value of every soul would never sanction the kinds of atrocities that occur every day in America in the name of ‘family planning’. The pathetic masses have allowed the godless to define for them what makes man valuable. And so they exalt some on lofty pedestals, while others are literally tossed in the garbage.
Indeed, there is a stark contrast between theism and atheistic evolution. One says that God specially created man; the other says, we “share a common heritage with earthworms.” One says that man is inherently more valuable than animals; the other says “we are animals.”1
Listen. God says that from the day you were conceived, you were a living soul. My words here are the truth. The truth must be told that you and I have intrinsic value that the world does not acknowledge. Too many people have their minds believing that they are worthless because the world tells them so. They aren’t respected idolized because they can’t sing or dance. But God loves us has great plans for us if we will acknowledge Him. He knows our every step and keeps track of what we do. From His great throne, He sees us every one and He hears if we call on Him. He sees the good and the bad. Because you do wrong by sinning, He offers us forgiveness through His Son, Jesus Christ. God says there is right and wrong. By breaking His law, He holds us to account for our deeds. But there is good news for each and every person. He can be forgiven and saved. Please believe on Jesus and obey His voice.
- Read and hear God’s will for you, Rom. 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of Christ.”
- Believe on Jesus Christ, John 3:16 “whoever believes should not perish but have everlasting life.”
- Repent and turn away from the sin and godlessness in the world, Lk. 13:3 “Unless you repent, you shall likewise perish.”
- Confess with your mouth that Jesus is the risen Lord, Rom. 10:9,10 “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
- Be immersed in water into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and you will arise a new creature, born again, sinless, spotless, forgiven. Acts 22:16 “Now why do you delay? Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on His name.”
- Wear the name of Christ, gladly be called “Christian” and live faithfully for Him.
Remember that it is God who skillfully made you. God knows you intimately and He cares about your eternal soul. Your value is not established by men who are guided by fits of whimsy. Don’t sell yourself short. To God, who gave His only begotten Son to redeem you from sin, you have eternal worth. God loves you, the Bible tells me so. God loves you, His creation tells us so. God loves you, the cross tells us so.
