Why are you in the situation you are in? Is it because of circumstances beyond your control or was it because of personal choices? When a man blames someone else for his being in jail, did this man not choose also to be in the company of corrupt people? When you go to the party, you make the bargain and accept that there may be consequences you may not like. If you jump into the poo, is it the poo’s fault that you stink? When you deal with the drug dealer, don’t be surprised if you life begins to stink.
When we follow Christ, we have to let go of the blame game and come fresh to God. Wherever you are today, that’s where you have to begin. What you are today is your beginning point. Regardless of how wronged you were in your life, your fault or not, God can only help you if you come ready to change. The man who still wants to kill those who wronged him in the past needs to look in the mirror and decide if he didn’t play a part in bringing himself to the point he is today. Personal responsibility is where a prospective Christian starts. Leave the past behind. Accept responsibility and repent. Look to God for the future. And God will make great things happen. Said in love, Dan
