“3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” – Eph 1:3

Contrast the spiritual blessings in Christ with the Old Law that emphasized the external: land, tabernacle, circumcision, animal sacrifices, etc. Moses gave the Law, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. See the difference?

The book of Ephesians emphasizes spiritual blessings that have to do with the things of God and His kingdom. A carnal-minded man will find little enticement in the Gospel for this very reason. But when a man has concluded there must be more than this world, then his sights look upward and this promise of eternal, spiritual blessings in Christ is very appealing.
