“make a defense to everyone who ask you to give an account for the hope that is in you, YET WITH GENTLENESS AND REVERENCE” 1 Pt 3:15
That gentleness and respect I sometimes forget. I defend, but I sometimes do it with a snarl and a bite. I apologize to God for forgetting to defend with the right spirit.
“And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:18. I sometimes sow but not in peace. And for this I apologize to God.
The Word of God will always produce the fruit of righteousness, but it is sometimes the case that it is sown by less than a loving spirit.
“but speaking the truth in love,…” Eph 4:15.
I may wish to believe that my speaking the truth is always in love, but I can be honest and say it doesn’t sound like it. O Lord, forgive me and may my mean, biting, sarcastic tongue no longer get in the way of your blessed message. I don’t intend on being so nice that I fall short of telling the truth. But I want to tell the truth with love. I want to defend my hope with gentleness and reverence. I want to sow the word of God as a peacemaker should.
