“15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5
“Cherish is the word I use to describe”. These are the beginning words of one of the most popular songs David Cassidy ever sang. He was called a “heartthrob” of the 70’s and many of us baby boomers had fun watching him on the television show The Partridge Family. It makes me sad to think about him, because despite his wealth, his life was not in Jesus Christ and was marked by the abuse of drugs and alcohol. He recently passed away at the age of 67. According to his daughter, his last words were “so much wasted time”. I cannot imagine the despair a man feels when on his deathbed his thoughts are about “so much wasted time”.
Christian, there is so much time being wasted away. Seconds, minutes, hours, and days are slipping away from us. It does seem foolish when you think about it. What does God want His children to do? “Redeem the time.” Today, redeem an hour of that time that would have been flittered away, and use the minutes for the glory of God. In fact, let us make this day and all of the rest that He gives to us, to be devoted to His will. No more wasting time.
