22The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone.
23This is the LORD’S doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

We have blessed you from the house of the LORD. 27The LORD is God, and He has given us light; Bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28You are my God, and I give thanks to You; You are my God, I extol You. 29Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting. – Ps 118

Why do people reject the right stone? Is it a lack of attention? Ignorance based on bad information on what to look for? Is it prejudice? Programming from the chief liar? It is all of these.

When asking why people reject the perfect stone, Peter gives another reason that is not to be overlooked. He says, “‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone,’ and ‘A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE’; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word,…'” 1 Peter 2:7-8 (cf Acts 4:11). And they are disobedient because for internal and external reasons.

It is very interesting that when Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem before His final Passover, it was a coronation for the coming Messianic King because the people, even the children, sang this Psalm to Him singing, “blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD’, (v26). At least for the moment, their eyes were open and they were not rejecting the perfect stone. The truth that the son of David had entered their midst riding humbly on a donkey overwhelmed them to the point of true belief. The children had no lies filter through. They had no state sponsored godless propaganda hinder their view of reality. They did not have the nature of many of their parents who had learned to respect men more than God. They just saw the truth in Jesus and they sang.

The hard-hearted priests and Pharisees were greatly troubled to see it even to the point of appealing to Jesus to stop them. In response, Jesus quoted another Messianic Psalm about Jesus for a while “being made lower than the angels, but then crowned with glory”, that “Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for Yourself’.

This brings me to another question and point. How does God prepare praise for Himself from the mouth of children? It is a fact that the innocent act innocently. Their response is natural. The older people have to be deprogrammed. They have to peel away the prejudices from their eyes. The older we are the harder we have to work to see what is real because we have been taught to accept so much that is not true. Just think what evolution programming does to anyone trying to find God. And it is not wonder that the godless state wants to get a hold of the youngest people and program their little minds to accept everything they say and to believe nothing. The children who saw Jesus riding into the city were not yet programmed. It is the innocent who most naturally are prepared to sing praise to God.

As I close this out, I think about the timidity that we adults often exhibit. What keeps us from singing out the truth of Jesus Christ? We can say that we accept the perfect stone, Jesus Christ, but do we sing it? Do we rejoice in it? Do we line up with the children to rejoice that Jesus is King?
