The Danger of a Divided Mind, DM

Conflict leads to indecision. When there are opposing ideas in one organization, system, mind, there will be conflict where one or both of the sides must be abandoned. The old saying is true when there is disagreement, that one might be right or the other might be right, but they cannot both be right. The task of every human being is to determine what is right and to then abandon everything that is contrary to it.

Look at the examples gives by James in 1:8 and 4:8. The “double-minded” man cannot choose between God and the world. And like Jesus says, “you will love one and hate the other.” A person who lives a conflicted life does so because he has a conflict in his head.

When parents are in conflict with God, choose God. When work is in conflict with God, choose God. When television is in conflict with God, choose God. When school and sports are in conflict with God, choose God. If we are incapable of choosing, we are incapable of pleasing God. Bless yourself with an undivided mind.

In the graphic below, notice it is attributed to Abraham Lincoln. But it is Jesus who said it. As the divided house cannot stand, the divided soul will not stand.
