Ready?
“35Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning. 36Then you will be like servants waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once. 37Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them. 38Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night and finds them alert, those servants will be blessed. 39But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming,g he would not have let his house be broken into. 40You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.” Luke 12
Are we ready for the coming return of Jesus Christ or are we going to be surprised and unprepared.
The preaching today was about calling the church be prepared for Jesus’ coming because we do not know the day or hour He will.
Instead of following the false prophets who try to interpret the day or hour of His return, which they cannot do, instead ready yourself now and stay ready.
We are going to be ready if we are not mislead by the deceit of Pharisees not by the deceit of riches.
Jesus said the treasure for each person is heaven. This is where our treasure is. And if we want heavenly treasures, we must be dressed in readiness today, each and every moment.
What can I do today to be ready for the coming of Jesus?
Lk 12:35 says to be girded up to serve. Jesus girded Himself and served by washing dirty feet to give an example. So an import way to be ready is to look for ways to serve. Be ready and willing to serve. To be ready and watching is to be about doing His work until He comes. Are you ready?
