There is a separation wall between the physical and spiritual realm. By praying, we are able to cross that boundary to speak to those in the spiritual realm. We speak to God. We tell the devil to get behind us. But we are told not to seek the counsel or spirits.

Seances and praying to angels or seeking the guidance of “spiritists” is forbidden and an dangerous thing to do. Even a Quija board looks like a parlor trick, but it sets the stage for spiritual demise.

“And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?” Isa. 8:19

The devil and demons have attempted to cross the boundary between their realm and the realm of the living. The devil appeared as a serpent and spoke directly to the woman. There is a passage in Genesis that is believed to be saying that angels took the form of men and married women. The Nicholas Cage move, City of Angels, is loosely depicting the same principle that an angel can fall in love with a human and chooses to “fall”, literally, into a painful crash into the ground. In the movie, once the angel falls, takes human form to live a human life until he dies a human death.

“[1] And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, [2] That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” Gen. 6.

Compare the ‘sons of God’ here with the ‘sons of God’ reference in Job 1:6 when the ‘sons of God’ and satan came and presented a case to God to test Job to fall.
The interpretation of Genesis 6:1f is debated to not refer to angels at all, but only to men of God intermarrying with unbelieving women, thus leading to a corrupted offspring. I’m only saying it is possible that angels took fleshly form and mated with women.

We know that the devil and demons are obsessed with humans, and because we know the devil himself fell from God’s grace by choice, and because we know that God punished angels who crossed over God’s boundary line, the idea is at least plausible that the devil and demons appear as humans.

“6And angels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day,” Jud 1.

What does it mean angels didn’t stay in their proper habitation or dwelling? Does it mean spiritually they rebelled from their service to God? Or does it mean that angels “fell” for women, the daughters of men, so they could sleep with women and so they could “live” a human life? It’s possible. We know these angels abandoned God. But what does it mean they abandoned their proper dwelling place? It might mean they crossed over from the realm of spirits to the realm of flesh.

The devil is the tempter. As he was able to in some way have a dialogue with God to tempt Job to sin, and since we know that men do pay attention to doctrines of demons, there is some mysterious way that the will of demons gets into the minds of men. It is a way that the devil and demons have the ability to “interface” or communicate across the separation wall between spirit realm and the human realm.
Believing in the reality of hell and that the devil and his demons are trying to interface with us, to communicate with us to make us fall, it is EXTREMELY wise to be on your knees drawing near to God lest you fall by the deception.
