This is the message often repeated.
Jesus said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”
The conclusion is we will not be blessed if we do not observe His commands.
When they said, ‘you don’t have to do a thing’, they forget that Jesus said blessed is the one who confesses, blessed is the one who repents, and saved is the one who is baptized (Mt. 10:33; Lk. 13:3; Mk. 16:16).
The “faith only” doctrine that is widely adopted since the so called Reformation is refuted by James. He said, “faith without works is dead”. You cannot be saved by if faith is not shown by works.
The conclusion is that these people are false teachers. Even with baptism, they dismiss it’s importance for salvation. They often repeat the mantra, “baptism is important, but it’s not necessary”. To that I ask, what command of Jesus is not necessary? They say it is important, but they can only can only say, “because Jesus was baptized”. Isn’t that enough to say itht is important AND necessary!
Yes, Jesus secured the way of salvation, but the only people who will be saved are those who OBEY Jesus.
Jesus commanded baptism. He said “make disciples, baptized them”. Baptism is at the core of preaching the Gospel. In Mark 16:15,16, Jesus said to go preach the Gospel, and he that believes it and is baptized will be saved.
If you have not been immersed, you have not been washed in the blood of Christ.
