When the New Testament Began
Because the Church didn’t actually begin until Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost, readers of the Bible wonder how the Gospels (Matthew-John) factor into the New Testament. Did the Church begin with John the Baptist? Were Jesus and the disciples living under the New Church dispensation or under the Old Mosaic Law? In the illustration I’ve created, I show that the Gospels depict life under the Old Testament Law; WHILE, at the same time the New Testament economy or way of life is being introduced. The New Testament could not go into effect until the death of Christ (see Hebrews 9:15-17), since there needed to be the death of the one who made the Testament. Still, John the Baptist, Jesus and his disciples were laying the groundwork through their teaching for things that would apply to the New Testament Church Age. My opinion is that only a misguided soul would teach otherwise.

A Conquering Faith 
Brother,I see that you’re not a Catholic Christian but Catholic teaching is that Jesus founded the Church at Calvary upon the cross. He kept his promise to Peter that he would found a single church: “And I tell you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18). Catholics believe and teach that Jesus, in addition to redeeming the world upon the Cross also founded a Church; and it is through this Church that all graces are mysteriously communicated.
