And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has ilumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Jesus is the “Light of the world” and He is the Light of Heaven. We know very well of His glory and someday we will see it with our eyes. Jesus came to show the way to a world in darkness. John the Baptist was a great prophet, but he was not the Light. The Apostle wrote, “there was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man” (Jn. 1:9). To any seeker, the sight of Jesus must have been awesome. It was impossible that any darkness existed in His presence. Some were converted by His truth, others were exposed before they fled from Him. He was no ordinary man. “Full of grace and truth”, John said, “we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father…”. His truth, His essence, His love, His everything was compelling and awesome. Face to face with Him, you could not remain the same. Hide if you would, but in His presence, you were fully known inside and out. And so with Jesus there was only the choice: to embrace the Light or flee from It. Whichever, you would not be the same when you encountered the glorious Christ. I am not the same. If you are a disciple, you are not the same. You know others who have learned of and come to Jesus, and they are not the same. Being a disciple of Christ, means we have followed and become like Him. Our actions and thoughts are ever His concern. In His presence, we are refined and purified and transformed daily into His glory. There is no hiding in the Light. Under the watchful eye of Jesus Christ, our way is sure. We do not stumble so as to be lost. We have been and continue to be blessed by Jesus. What good news. There is still much darkness in the world. It’s in our hands to let our light shine in the darkness. It’s up to us to show Jesus to others while there is time. Tell the world of the Lamb that is the light of heaven.

If you believe in Jesus, have your repented of sin? If you have repented, have you confessed His name before men? If you have confessed His name, have you been immersed in the grave of Baptism that your sins be washed away (Acts 22:16)? If you have been washed, do you walk faithfully each day in His presence?
