“It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding.” – Dan. 2:21
Daniel says that God is involved in man’s affairs; especially in the lives of His people. From the book of Daniel we see the providence of God helping men of faith and bringing judgment on the rebellious.
Determining the “times and epochs” means that He may decide the duration of Israel in exile or He may decide the period a king will rule. With His powerful hand, He exercises His master plan. And kings cannot avoid His judgment. If they arrogantly deny His existence and upset the moral order, God removes them. And the wise can thank God for all that they have because God is the source of everything good. He brings enlightenment to the person who draws near and relies on Him.
We love reading about Daniel and His great faith. His success in Babylonian exile, from beginning to end, had to do with the involvement of God in his life. Now it’s 2009 and God is still working. Let us pray to Him and draw near to Him, and then watch Him work.
