Our tongue tells a lot about our faith and if we have God in our heart. There is wisdom from God if we will ask, but we have to speak up and ask Him, Jas 1:3-5. Some people are weak in faith and they foolishly blame God for all of their troubles – they speak foolishly. It’s why James says, “
Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak….” The “quick to speak” usually transgress with their tongues and are not mature. Sometimes we just need to bite our tongues and shut up. A tongue that speaks evil is a problem of faith and of the heart. As we mature spiritually, we increase self-control in what what we say. Pro. 15:28 says, “
The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.” God gave us a tongue to be guided by the heart. Usually whatever we say is a reflection of what is in our heart. That’s why it’s good to have God in our hearts. That’s why we need His word in our hearts. If we would not transgress, then we need to meditate on His ways. Then our tongue will speak what of faith and glory in the things of God.
