“Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You are greatly despised.” – Obadiah 1:2
God has a problem with Edom, the brother of Jacob, who has been proud and mean. Proud of their own impregnable strength and mean against their brother Judah. They have boasted over their own strength and they have gloated over the troubles of others. Such sin does not go unnoticed by God. As a result of God’s judgment, they will be small and hated by their friends and foes which spells the beginning of the end Edom.
The God Almighty is “in everyplace, watching the evil and the good” (Pro 15:3). Perhaps He sees the pride you have in your heart. Perhaps the private, secret lusts you keep have been spied by Him for some time and He’s no longer willing to give you time to change. Obadiah was written for our learning (Rom 15:4; 1 Cor. 10:6,11). When God decides “to make you small”, it’s too late. If you are guilty of the sin of Edom, repent and turn to God today.
