“The eye is the lamp of the body;” Mt 6:22
I was about to enter Wal-Mart a few days ago and as I approached I saw the “bell-ringer” guy. He was dressed in extremely warm clothing so I doubt there was any discomfort for him though the temperature was below zero. All I could see of the man was his eyes and a few whiffs of hair above his eyes. Between the stocking cap and the face shield was barely an inch of the man’s face. I could see his eyes as he wished me a Merry Christmas. I instantly recognized the young man, not by his voice, and not because I was aware that an acquaintance would be stationed here, but only by his eyes did I recognize him. A young man that works at the local gym. I’ve played basketball with him on a couple of occasions. But I knew him by his eyes. I thought how remarkable that God has composed us all to have two eyes and yet the eyes say so much about each and every individual.
The eye is the window to the soul. It sure made me think about what my eyes are saying about me.
