Like in the epistle to the Colossians, Paul says to the Colossians that, “4 since we heard of your FAITH in Christ Jesus and the LOVE which you have for all the saints; 5 because of the HOPE laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel …”; Colossians 1:4,5
And then there is the well known reference to the Corinthians where Paul says, “But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.”, 1 Cor. 13:13.
Faith, hope, and love just go together. These remained after the supernatural gifts ceased. There were Christians in the first century who did not have supernatural gifts, but they were spiritual giants because of their faith, hope, and love. There are many today who claim their superiority of religion because they click and clack with their tongues but they wouldn’t have the faith of a rock without signs.
The goal of our preaching is godly love, living faith, and a steadfast hope in God’s salvation. God bless you. – Dan
