A lot of people confuse the church’s role and purpose. Doug Post has it right when he says, “We give but the church is not a lending institution. We provide emergency assistance but the church is not a hospital. We feed the poor, but the church is not a soup kitchen. We clothe people, but the church is not a thrift store. ALL of this, however, is to be done in conjunction with teaching the gospel.”
“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.” – Mt 11:11
Let’s not forget that Jesus is head over His body. People who want a country club should join their local country club. People who want a civic organization should join a civic organization. The church is a spiritual and it’s number one priority is the spiritual.
The Lord Jesus warned that men would try to force their ways into the church and wrest control of it for their own devices. Don’t let them! Spread the Gospel and convert souls to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Build up the church and shine the light of Truth for all to see. And worship God in spirit and truth.
