“They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 7:12
A hard heart will kill you. The life is in the blood. But the hard heart won’t pump the life blood. A hard heart is a diseased heart. The heart in bible terms is the place of the sensitive soul that easily responds to the gentle leading of God. A single word pricks the heart. A knowing glance from the Lord will cut through the heaviness of the night. God is gentle with a good heart. The living Word doesn’t have to hack away at a tender heart. The word which is living and active will just give a whisper touch and the good-hearted man or woman will melt and fall to the knees into the presence of Father.
Check the heart. Don’t lose your sensitivity to Jesus Christ. He loves you with an everlasting love. Return the love with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. He knows if the heart has been hardened to His Word. He knows when the words of a faithful preacher are being resisted. He knows the rationalizations to believe without the zeal I once had. What happened to Israel can happen to me and you. And making our hearts like flint just happens over time so before we even know it, it’s too late. So while you are hearing and still sensitive, get the heart right.
