A LAND OF AN ENDLESS DAY, Dan Mayfield

There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.” Rev. 22:5

In heaven there will be no night, no sun, for God will be the light there. What if when we follow our long ago departed loved ones into heaven, that to them there was no time at all between their entrance and our being united with them in that glorious day? To the living, it is years, decades, centuries, and even millenia in time difference, but in the land of an endless day, it is all in the same day. The passage of time dims the memories and warmth of important relationships. But in the land that has no
sun, and no darkness, but only a single day, it will be as if just moments ago that we were saying our goodbyes.

From the vantage point of man, long periods of time have passed and more may pass still before the Lord Jesus returns. On that day, when Jesus comes with salvation and judgment, all will be judged. But from the vantage point of heaven, there are no long epochs of time but only today, so that “today you will be with Me in paradise.” And when anyone dies as a Christian, “today” he or she is with Jesus. Wherever Jesus was going, the thief on the cross would be that very day. To be in paradise suggests the thief’s judgment has passed. From our vantage point, it’s future. From the vantage of the glorified in heaven, it is “today” and no passing of time is apparent since on that side of the veil there is only one eternal, endless day with the Lord.

To us on this side of heaven, we long for seeing our loved ones again. The years pass and we look forward to heaven and a sweet reunion. But on that side of the veil, the departed just entered paradise and looked back to see you entering. The judgment of God is all in one day. And all will enter heaven that day. Your thoughts please.
