”5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no DARKNESS at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:5-7

There is a darkness so dark that it is not even imaginable. The ninth plague in Exodus 10 may have been such a darkness. “They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days….” God’s judgment and darkness go together. Peter writes that angels who sinned are in “pits of darkness

reserved for judgment” (2 Pt 2:4). Just try to imagine it and you will shudder. There is the darkness that is the absence of light, which can be terrifying and we run from it, but there is another darkness that surpasses it which is the darkness of not having God and His goodness in your life. I believe it is the precursor to what eternity will be like “away from the presence of the Lord”. This is the self-imposed darkness of ignorance and disobedience to the Truth in Jesus Christ. It is not a happy life when lived in this darkness. The good news is that in God there is no darkness. Come to the light of Jesus. Obey the GospeI and be saved (Mk. 16:15-16). Walk in the light. I pray you will not be caught in the darkness when Jesus Christ comes again.
