6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. – 1 Timothy 6
Job was a man who had his desires and pursuits in check. He was a godly man. Though he was immensely wealthy, when he lost everything, still he did not lose his faith. Faith does not exist only when everything is going right. Faith mostly desires to be favored by God. If we lose all of the world’s goods, we do not have more or less than we had when we came into the world. And when we die and leave this earth, we will leave with nothing but our soul. So it is vital that we keep wealth and health in perspective and that we seek mostly to know God. A godly person is content with whatever he has in this life. He is content to be right with God.
