GIVING FROM THE HEART: WORSHIP MOST THAN SKIN DEEP

“6Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9

This passage was read on Sunday before the collection was taken up. I don’t know if anyone caught it, but the principle applies to what I spoke of in the sermon that worship must be more than skin deep. Purposing is in the heart or else the giving will be unacceptable. Worship must involve the heart and soul. Singing is with thankfulness in your heart. And giving must be what you have purposed in the heart and done cheerfully. If giving is not from the heart, it’s just a work and is not pleasing to the Lord.
