The Bible is God’s Word and therefore we emphasize doing what it says, and not taking away, from it, 1 Cor. 4:6.
Names are important and the name we have is Biblical, perfectly descriptive, giving honor to Him who purchased it with His own blood, Romans 16:16; 1 Cor. 1:10-13; Acts 20:28.
Belief in Jesus is the only way to salvation and all other religions are false, like the tares planted by the evil one, Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Mt. 13:25.
Faith only doctrine is not taught because to be saved a person must confess Jesus is Lord and repent of his sins, Romans 10:10; Luke 24:47; James 2:14-17.
Since children do not know better and since Jesus said sinners must become like children, in the church of Christ people who reach an age of knowing and choosing are called on to be fully immersed in water to be washed clean of their sins, Acts 8:12; Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21.
Since God organized the church according to His wisdom, as is outlined in the New Testament each congregation is to mature to the point of having Elders who watch over the flock and Deacons who are appointed with special duties, 1 Tim 3:1ff; Titus 1:5ff; Acts 20:38.
Men are tasked to be the spiritual leaders in God’s design, therefore the Scriptures remind women that they are not to teach or exercise authority over the men, 1 Tim. 2:12; 1 Cor. 14:34.
Because Jesus will save the church when He returns, being an active, functioning member of the local body of Christ is essential for the fulfillment of God’s plan, Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Cor. 12:19-21.
Because worship must be in spirit and truth, for the sake of unity and for pleasing the Lord, the church of Christ sings, partakes of the Lord’s Supper, prays, contributes, and preaches and teaches the Scriptures, Eph. 5:19; 1 Cor. 11:23; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; 1 Tim. 2:8; 1 Tim. 4:13.
