The Devil will destroy individuals if possible: “31Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22. 

Peter may have had this in mind when he said, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5. Think of Job when God said to the devil where have you come from, and the devil says, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” Job 2:2

The demons are liars which is terrible destructive: “1But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. 4For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.” 1 Tim. 4:1-5.

See the message is the same. He cannot destroy you or me unless we drop our guard and leave the door open for him.
