The population in a small state in the middle east praises the political leaders because the state provides services like food handouts and medicine at shanty clinics. When this state is called a terrorist’s state, the defenders of it say, no, it does good! Why would terrorist do good? Why do evil do good? The easy answer is they can’t tick everyone off or they wouldn’t remain in power.

“2 So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.” Romans 6

There were evil people in the Bible who did good. For what reason? We all know the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and other religious leaders who in the end killed Jesus because all of their usual methods of control had failed. Even in killing Jesus, it was only because God permitted it since it was for this reason Jesus came, Mk 10:45. All evil people, like the Pharisees, only do good for selfish reasons. But their nature is evil because the devil is their father. They are deceivers so that any good they appear to do is not what it seems to be.

But people are easily fooled and less critical, and so they defend the hypocrites with things like, nobody’s perfect, the bible says judge not,

How does evil remain in power? It is the people who give their valuable vote, their voice, their energy, their resources, and even their life to the devil because these people care less about truth and justice, and care more about free bread, free porn, and promises of ample access to government largesse. Evil knows what evil people want and gives it to them. To talented and ambitious people, the devil will give diamonds and houses on hills. To the less ambitious, the devil will give 30 pieces of silver, or a bag of pot and a meager government check.

Will the devil mete out some justice against lawbreakers? Yes, but only for show. Will the devil arrest pedophiles? Yes, but only enough to give the appearance so that the masses of people may be fooled. But lovers of truth will work to pull out evil by the roots, while evil people will only prune away a few sacrificial branches and leave the evil tree intact. Evil sometimes does enough against itself because it fools many people.

The present presidential administration shut down the largest porn sites in the world and arrested thousands of pedophiles and human traffickers. Past administrations also had some arrests but left the root of the problem intact – in the name of free speech or civil liberty. Many are fooled by the superficial acts by evil and this is why evil does good.

It is a shame to see so many people being fooled by the good they see evil people doing. The devil himself will promise good things like power and authority and land, as he did to Jesus, for a price that includes the soul. Jesus said, what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Jesus didn’t say, what will a man GET in exchange for his soul? What men GIVE in exchange for their souls is a lot. They give along with their soul, their good name, their integrity, their health, their family, their peace, and so much. The devil will give good things to people, but he will take much more. Profiting by dealing with evil is an impossibility. As the gambling house is certain to keep more than it loses, the evil will take more than it gives. As the old saying goes, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. So don’t judge evil by a few seemingly good acts. Evil only does good to fool the masses.
