“it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” Phil. 2:13
Let Paul’s words sink in. He is speaking to Christians. He says God is at work in you. Don’t be dismissive. Don’t limit it. Don’t run scared from the statement. God works in Christians. We can debate HOW He works in the Christian. We can talk about the various ways He works in Christians. But believe He has the whole world in His hands. Believe that God is at work to accomplish His good pleasure. His works does not rob an individual from choice. A man can yield in faith to do God’s good pleasure. And a man can resist in rebellion and God will work His good pleasure through Him too. But God is at work. God uses the Bible to communicate His will. The Bible is indispensable to God’s working. But do not think God ONLY works through the message communicated in the Bible. God is separate from the Bible. When you pray, the Bible doesn’t hear you prayer. When you petition and bring supplications in prayer, the Bible doesn’t answer your prayer. God is the one listening and God is the one who answers. We can debate whether He works with visible signs or only behind the scenes, but there is no doubt that God is working. So believe it. And trust in His work in your life. By faith, acknowledge when you are weak, God works through you. And the result is not of yourself. The result of your faith is evidence of God at work. Do you believe God still works today?
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
“28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable *. 29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, 31 Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:28ff.
So give glory to God for your every breath, for your every thought, and for every beat of your heart. Without God you would be nothing. You day is a gift from Him. Your eternal life, if you have it, is His gift. Your daily bread is from Him. Your children are the gift from God. All that you have is from Him. Anyone who says he believes, but will not acknowledge everything is from God, the gift from God, he is a man weak and lacking faith. The sun is God’s gift. The rain falling on the ground is God’s gift. The fruit bearing trees are evidence that He is working, Acts 14:17.
Fall to your knees before you fall asleep tonight and thank the heavenly Father for all that He has given. He never sleeps. He is able to hear you and waits.
