Taking friends for granted isn’t a good thing.
Proverbs says, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”Pro 18:24
Having friends is having people who go through the journey of life with you. You support them and they are with you through your difficulties.
Marriage is a good thing for many reasons, but the basis of it is having a lifelong friend. Friendships for a lifetime require cultivating some personal relationship muscles that can be neglected. It takes things like patience, thoughtfulness, and kindness to be a lifelong friend.
I think the Bible saying “consider one another as more important than yourselves;…” (Phil. 2) Certain my fits in marriage. Hazel has a saying on the wall in our home that says, ” in a world where you can be anything, be kind”. Hazel has been my friend for over four decades. She works at being the friend that is closer than a brother. #amazing
