Children play with toys because they are children, but adults commit to carrying their cross. When is a child accountable as a sinner?

The easy answer is when the child is no longer a child, but is an adult.
I remember years ago hearing that a mother took her 7 year old child to get baptized and she announced this good news to the congregation.

I looked over at the little boy and he was playing with a couple of action figures during the assembly and the child obviously was not worshiping God.

My thought is that a sinner who is saved, has the heart, the mental and spiritual condition, to pause from things of the world to give a sacrifice to God. This little 7 year old was not at this place of maturity to understand that Jesus died for him to satisfy God’s need for justice. This 7 year old child likely did not understand the virgin birth and that God visited earth and took the form of a man to show us the way. That 7 year old was in no way prepared to take up a cross and follow Jesus every day.

For children to get baptized as in this case shows a woeful lack of understanding of what sin is, a woeful understanding of what discipleship means.
Moms and Dads, don’t rush your children. There is not an exact age, but until the person is convinced in his own soul that he can do nothing else but repent and be baptized, do not rush this.

“24Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24

Children play with toys because they are children, but adults commit to carrying their cross. Because adults play with toys at times doesn’t mean children can therefore be adults. But some people utterly miss the clear logic but still press to baptize their little boys and girls.
