Sting sang in “Every Little Thing She Does”,
I resolve to call her up a thousand times a day
And ask her if she’ll marry me in some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone?
And ask her if she’ll marry me in some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone?
Let’s not resolve a thousand times a day to do something and allow fear to hold us back. Resolve to speak to a lost soul about Jesus and do it. Resolve to invite someone to church and do it. Resolve to put away an old nasty habit and do it. Resolve to spend less time watching television and do it. Resolve to give more money and more time to the church and do it. Resolve to do something nice every day for your family and do it. Resolve to pray daily and do it. Resolve to read through the Bible this year and do it.
Resolutions are meaningless unless we do them. Hey, what’s the worst and scariest thing that could happen to you? A sock in the eye? That wouldn’t be so bad if at the end of the day you got it for the Lord.
Said in love, Dan
