After Noah left the ark, God instructed Noah and his family “to be fruitful and multiply.” But not only that, God also said to, “fill the earth”, Gen. 9:7.

Is our view on the right number of children to have being informed from the Bible or from the world?

That is the world talking there. That is the world that values children less telling us we are having too many children. I think they need to tend to their own house.

I thought about this issue when watching a typical commercial with a typical family having a mother, father, and one child. If the marketers and media and liberal powers didn’t have a bias, why are there no AT&T or KFC commercials with five children tagging along with their parents? Hmmm?

Now before you pounce on me, some people can’t have children. And some people because of medical issues or because of “the present circumstances” being dire, for example, wisely decide to have no more. I point no fingers at these. But these should not be the norm. Why do I say that?

How does a man and woman fill the earth if they only have two children? They do not. Because of mortality rates, just to maintain the population, you have to have something like 2.2 children just to maintain the present population. Since you can’t have 2.2, you need at the minimum 3 children to increase the population. My aim is not to argue if or whether the earth has been filled, I personally do not believe it has, but the point is that we are allowing the world to model and dictate what is normal and acceptable number of children to have. And commercials like the one I saw reflect it. Criticism of Chip and Joana reflects the almost Nazi or Communistic imposition of some upon others through shaming. There is no shame in having a large family!

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them…” Psalm 127:3-5

The godless world can mind its own business. Children are a precious gift from God that men and women should love to bring into the world and raise them to know Jesus Christ. To do this is a wonderful gift and privilege. If you are married and able, consider having a large family. You will then have the privilege of raising your children to be warriors for Christ.
